Ms. Sharon Summerlin

Sharon Summerlin is a highly accomplished and dedicated education professional with a diverse background spanning over two decades. Her educational journey commenced with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Nova Southeastern University in 1997, followed by a Master of Science in Instructional Technology from Florida Atlantic University in 2003. Ms. Summerlin continued to deepen her expertise by earning a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership K-12 from Florida Atlantic University in 2013.

Ms. Summerlin's extensive career in education reflects a commitment to leadership, innovation, and fostering positive learning environments. Currently serving in the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), Ms. Summerlin has been an instrumental figure in school administration. Since March 2023, she has taken on the roles of Acting Principal at Murray Elementary and Special Education Assistant Principal for both Murray Elementary and Kessler Elementary at Fort Stewart, Georgia. 

Prior to her current role, Ms. Summerlin held a position as an Instructional Systems Specialist for Elementary Mathematics, from July 2016 to March 2023. During this time, she played a crucial role in instructional improvement, coaching teachers, and designing and delivering professional development at Headquarters, District, and School levels.

Ms. Summerlin's dedication to education is further evidenced by her years as an elementary teacher at Acreage Pines Elementary and Palm Cove Elementary and the district office in Palm Beach, Florida from 1997 to 2016. Her classroom experience includes various grade levels, with a focus on self-contained and inclusive teaching methods. Ms. Summerlin has consistently utilized formative assessments to differentiate instruction and engaged in numerous extracurricular activities, showcasing her commitment to a holistic educational experience.

Ms. Summerlin's passion for education, combined with her diverse experiences and continuous commitment to professional growth, makes her a valuable asset to Murray ES. Her leadership, instructional expertise, and dedication to student success highlight her as an outstanding educator and administrator.
